TNG CLASSIC TORNADO

The flagship of TNG’s collection based on the unique watch with a great history, worn and designed by the famous Danish Paul Elvstrøm. This Danish sailor stood at a solitary peak for many years, winning numerous World Cups and claiming gold at four Olympic Games. This not only makes him the most successful sailor of all time but also one of the most successful Olympians, without a doubt.
Paul developed the protocols for using watches in the sport of sailing, firstly by timing the start more accurately, and secondly by inventing a rotatable ring to align the boat with the wind.
When the rules for the starting procedure changed to 3, 6, and 10 minutes, the transition to Quartz became necessary. However, as soon as the universal standard reverted to 10 minutes, it became possible to once again develop a genuine mechanical timepiece. This watch, based on the Valjoux 7750 and crafted with the assistance of Richard Habrink, an absolute virtuoso in horology, was a product of that transition.
Dutch Olympic sailor Herbert Dercksen was a co-founder of TNG. He played a pivotal role in the creation of the TNG watch featuring the distinctive 5 dots. This particular model is known as the Classic Tornado, a name honoring the class in which Herbert Dercksen achieved his greatest successes.Â
